You will very likely need a new lock as the spring inside has probably broken. A loose handle should be tightened to function properly. If you cant get help from pella let me know and i will see if the lock is available. This loosens the tension in the hinges to make the door easier to open.

A pella storm door that is difficult to open or close may be the result of a faulty or misaligned door latch. Once you have a hole you can use a small flat blade screwdriver to push the latch over and open the door. If the handle must be lifted to open or close the door the hardware is upside down. I even walked around to the outside of the door and nothing.

Pry off the plastic covers loosen the screws and slide the strikes up or down a few millimeters. The hinge rail runs vertically along the hinge side of the door.
