When it comes to installing cabinet door handles either knobs or pulls they are always placed on the opposite side from the door hinges.
Pantry door handle placement.
For example if your drawers are 36 inches wide half of 36 is 18 half of 18 is 9.
If you are using elongated knobs such as egg knobs or t knobs place the installation hole so that the top of your knob is in line with the rail.
Knobs should be centered horizontally on the door stile on the side opposite the hinge this goes for both upper and lower cabinetry.
Divide the drawer in half and center a pull in each half and it will be perfectly balanced.
The main difference is you ll place them near the top of the door on the stile so you can reach them without bending over too far.
You ll specifically want to place them anywhere between 1 and 4 from the top or bottom edge of the door.
Line the top edge of the hardware with the bottom edge of the top rail or center it on the frame.
The typical height to place knobs is 2 5 3 from the bottom of the door on upper cabinets or from the top of the door on lower cabinets.
You can cut circles out of painters tape to test placement.
Center the hardware horizontally on the stile between 2 and 4 inches down from the top edge.
We used the 2 5 measurement on all of our cabinets.
My cabinet maker recommended that we put the door knob at the same height as regular indoor doors 36 as that is what would feel natural.
